On purpose. This is a nationwide net radio protest that we’re taking part in, trying to get the heinously unfair legislation threatening RadioRadio and every other net streaming media group’s very existence.

Check out the basics here on the net radio day of silence.

Folks the rooms set aside for a discounted rate at the Chicago Hilton and Towers are nearly gone, so please book your room now if you’ve not done so yet! When these are exhausted, we’ll look at adding more rooms of course, but why wait? Click here for the Official SLCC Blog, the bright, blue buttons on the right will take you to Hotel & to Convention reservations pages.

In related news, I’ve been privy to an advanced peek at the scheduled speakers for some of the different presentation tracks, and let me just say this, I knew beforehand that I’d want to be in more than one place at one time, but now I’m SURE of it! These 3 days are going to be chock-full of interesting, fun, engaging content, presentations, machinima filmwork, music in varied forms such that we’ll ALL want a clone or three so we don’t miss a moment! Zounds! what a concentration of all the wonderfullness that SL has to offer this will be, gosh-a-golly!

All I can think of is the closing lines of “Meet Me In St. Louis”, all this excitement will be “right here in [my] home town”, and how happy I am to share my town with all of you folks that are coming to the convention! Can’t wait!

and so I’ll share it with you!

BUTCH THE ROOSTER

John the farmer was in the fertilized egg business. He had several hundred young layers (hens), called “pullets”, and ten roosters, whose job it was to fertilize the eggs (for you city folks).

The farmer kept records and any rooster that didn’t perform went into the soup pot and was replaced. That took an awful lot of his time, so he bought a set of tiny bells and attached them to his roosters. Each bell had a different tone so John could tell from a distance, which rooster was performing. Now he could sit on the porch and fill out an efficiency report simply by listening to the bells.

The farmer’s favorite rooster was old Butch, and a very fine specimen he was, too. But on one particular morning John noticed old Butch’s bell hadn’t rung at all! John went to investigate.

The other roosters were chasing pullets, bells-a-ringing. The pullets, hearing the roosters coming, would run for cover.

But to Farmer John’s amazement, old Butch had his bell in his beak, so it couldn’t ring. He would sneak up on a pullet, do his job and walk on to the next one.

John was so proud of old Butch, he entered him in the County Fair and he became an overnight sensation among the judges.

The result…The judges not only awarded old Butch the No Bell Piece Prize but they also awarded him the Pulletsurprise as well.

Clearly old Butch was a politician in the making: Who else but a politician could figure out how to win two of the most highly coveted awards on our planet by being the best at sneaking up on the populace and screwing them when they weren’t paying attention?

Here’s the skinny:

BREAKING NEWS:

We’d like to congratulate Flaming Moe, SLCC saxophonist and
keyboardist, on his unexpected opportunity to perform live for six
months on a European cruise ship! He will be traveling for six months

Moe’s departure from the SLCC musician line-up leaves us with an open

him. If you are an instrumentalist, able to read music and accompany
other musicians, and if you’d like to join the other 29 musicians who
will be performing for an international audience both in Chicago and
online, please submit your audition MP3 as follows:

1. Audition MP3s should be no longer than 10 minutes (9 MB) in
length; mixing a variety of selections within that single MP3 is
encouraged.
2. All MP3s must be emailed to Nethermind Bliss: nethermind [at]
gmail [dot] com no later than JULY 4th, 2007 at midnight SLT.

3. Please include your SL name with your audition and the best
email address
by which to reach you.

A new musician will be selected from the applicants and announced no
later than July 5th, 2007, midnight SLT, here on the SLCC Blog as well
as various SL group channels. Thank you for your understanding; if
you have any questions, please email Nethermind Bliss (nethermind [at]
