Greenpeace (yes that organization) is asking folks to vote for their choice of name for a whale, the list can be found here. Mister Splashy Pants, the least traditional type option is currently in the lead, but who knows some pedestrian, vowel-laden option might sneak up and win in the last minute due to ballet stuffing if we don’t act quickly! Yeap, CNN is taking the plunge into Second Life (SL). This makes CNN one of many corporate 1st world entities to take a look at SL. It appears that they’re looking to residents to determine what is and what isn’t newsworthy, which should have interesting results. Rueters and BBC have been in-world for a while yet, so this is not all that experimental but the more resident-driven approach does seem to be different, and I think, a more appropriate entry, as Second Life is a world that’s entirely resident-created.
