Say Your Name in Hebrew!

Posted on January 29, 2007. Filed under: Education, Jewish, language, Learning, Wikipedia |

Bitty lil site that gives the English transliteration of one’s Hebrew name. Couldn’t be easier!

As Madame is really a title, the closest would be “Mady or Madge” which becomes Levana or Margalit or Meira or Migdala or even Penina!

Need for help.
The name “Levana” is a hebrew or Arabian Name ???

I’m sorry I’m not entirely sure of the origin of the name itself, I just found that when I entered “Madame” into the translator, the options it gave me closest to that name were Mady, or Madge, which then translated to Hebrew came out as the names listed above. The site is really very simple in that it doesn’t give the linguistic breakdown of the resultant names.

I guess the next thing to do would be to “google” that name or run it through some other dictionary or linguistics site. Happy surfing!

Good design, who make it?

The Blog template is – Iceburgg by Astereostudio & Devlounge, the logo banner I’ve inserted is my own, thanks!

Hehe my name is to difficult for the website it’s “Lodewijk” translated in english it will be “louie” I guess. Then it only generates louis and louisa. It will probably work better when your name is simple like carl, anne, cris or something 🙂

Although that does seem to be the Anglican version of your Dutch name, maybe to go with Ludwig, the German form might be truer to the original intent? Don’t feel bad, the translator mangles most of my family’s names quite a bit. It’s nicer to have an interesting, memorable name with character than something without any heft to it!
