NYT article about SL Business

Not a bad article in yesterday’s New York Times about business in Second Life. It briefly mentions the Ginko dust-up, I’m noticing that recent mainstream articles are more about what SL IS about, and less of the “ooh lookie at the freaks” kinda sideshow drive-by glance. Finally!

Some folks I know on TV!

Posted on September 5, 2007. Filed under: broadcasting, celebrities, Columnists, computers, First Life, Friends, metaverse, Real Life, Second Life, SLCC, utube, VR worlds |

This piece by i-Caught ABC News features a few folks I know (and some I don’t) being interviewed about Second Life. It’s a refreshing press take on SL, in that they don’t mention making money, gambling or sex as the only reasons to hang out in world, and talk instead about creativity and primarily relationships and people! Wholly schnikes somebody got it!

Oh, and that “expert dude” was apparently even more of a wet blanket in person. Also, did ya catch that brief look at some of the in-world SLCC build?

Looks Like Richie (Daley) Wins Again

Despite the challenges and indictments to allies and others “in” the Daley camp, Richard M. Daley appears to have locked up better than 60% of the votes tallied at this point, with the poles closed and numbers yet coming in from various precincts. CLTV just “declared” Daley the winner a few minutes ago on air, although their website is lagging behind a little bit yet. WBBM 780 has stated likewise on their blog, they’ve included some handy stats as well.

Goodbye Molly, We’ll Miss You!

Columnist and liberal-pot-stirrer Molly Ivins succumbed to her third fight with breast cancer yesterday (January 31, 2007). A witty and clever woman, I’ve enjoyed her take-no-prisoners humor and forthright willingness to call the current President “Shrub” while adroitly skewering his policies and actions.

I read one of her books, “Molly Ivins Can’t Say That, Can She?” way back when it came out in 1991, and I’m still laughing about some of the stuff she said. I will miss her bravery and unselfconscientiousness.

The sad thing for all of us is that one more voice of dissent and reason has been lost, however the loss to her family and loved ones, that I cannot quantify, nor will I try. Just know that this stranger appreciated her writings and spirit, and will think of her many times yet in the future.
