Yeap it has happened, well it will next month, Phillip Rosedale will be stepping down as CEO and stay on working on the things he is best at and hopefully turning over the more corporate type reigns over to Mark Kingdon, (M Linden, no I’m not kidding, the letter M).

Here’s a link to the Blog post announcing the choice.

Apparently M has ventured in-world and has sucessfully learned how to be a champion afk’er. A promising start, to be sure.

And so what do I think? I will wait and see, there is so much other stuff going on and changing in world, code wise, etc. I think honestly that any forecasting we might attempt will fall short. This is an entirely new dynamic I suspect, and as always, things won’t be dull.

Shake & Bake, Wakie Wake!

I slept right through it but apparently last night there was a whole lotta shaking going on down state! We got a bit of an earthquake in the early morning hours waaay down in Salem, but it was felt all over Illinois, Indiana, etc. I guess we’re still having aftershocks as well too. I’m sure for folks from California this is not a big deal but well we’re not used to them here. Besides I worry about the New Madrid fault, a sleeping giant of building-crushing destructive potential.

Here’s some video clips on the quake today, including the last one where newscasters broke text due to the shakes occurring mid-broadcast.

All my efforts to hide from drama have failed this week. Although I think, for the time being at least, things are resolved, it was unpleasant and not the way I like to spend my time.

The good news is that the someone (I’ll bust them out enough to say they’re a very high profile SLebrity, part of the problem, frankly) who needed to hear some straight talking from a few folks DID listen, whether or not it will change things remains to be seen. I feel better for having done the hard thing and said my piece, clearly and directly. And for warning said person that should they start in again, they will not be dealt with gently.

I think it’s a common thing we tolerate much more abuse of ourselves than we will of others, I know that’s one of my “flavors” of less thank helpful (to me) behavior. So I reached my limit and that was that.

I’ve often said it, I’ll say it again. I can be the best friend you’ll ever have, but you really, really don’t want to make me mad. It takes an awful lot to do it, and trust me, if you do, you’ll know it.
